The Importance of Proper Socialization in Canine Development

As a canine training and behavior specialist, one of the most difficult and important subjects that I deal with is aggression in canines.  Experience has shown me time and time again that a key factor in dealing with or avoiding aggression is proper socialization.  Suzanne Clothier states:

“If you want to learn how to stop aggressive dog behavior towards strangers, then you must understand that socializing you dog is the most important, first step of aggressive dog training”  and “Off leash socialization through early adulthood is the best prevention for aggression problems”.

Angel K-9 at ICE Rally Show, Westminster, MD

Angel K-9, rally classes, dog training in Ellicott CityAngel K-9 Rally Team showed beautifully at Intelligent Canine Endeavors (ICE) Rally competition in Westminster, MD this past weekend!

Saturday honors go to the following handler/dog teams:

Bruce and Sasha: 1B 2nd place with a score of 207, 1B 194, 2A 3rd place with a score of 201, 2A earned Rally Level 2 Title with a score of 200, 3A 1st place with a score of 194

Rebecca and Storm: 1st time trialing level 1A 2nd place with a score of 206

Kelsey and Ruby: 1st time trialing – level 1A 4th place with a score of 197

Candace and Shasta: level 1B 2nd place, level 2A 4th place, level 2A 2nd place (after a run off on a 1st place tie)with a score of 203, also earning her Rally Level 2 Title
