Competitive Obedience classes provide your dog with a fun way to learn while at play. Dogs benefit when given a job to do, and the increased mental and physical workout provided by our Competitive Obedience classes gives them the benefits of fine tuning their obedience while developing a deeper, more trusting bond with their owner. More details on our Competitive Obedience classes and prerequisites are below.
Novice, Open, and Utility
Novice, Open, and Utility are the three levels of competitive obedience offered by the AKC and UKC. The exercises in all levels showcase the relationship of the owner and the dog. Dogs love to have jobs and choosing to train your dog towards one of these titles will give you and him/her a structure to work in and many jobs to learn and practice; in fact we usually see the owner/dog relationship continue to grow as they work towards titles.
Schutzhund is a German word meaning "protection dog". This working-dog sport offers an opportunity for dog owners to train their dog and compete with each other for recognition of both the handler's training acumen and the dog's ability to perform as required. Schutzhund is often enjoyed as a family sport, and is enjoyed by people of all ages and conditions.
